Ranking framework

How We Rank Dental Clinics

We use two complementary measures: a 100-point Clinic Quality Score and a 100-point Evidence Confidence Score. Clinics must meet the evidence threshold before they can appear in the current ranking.

Clinic Quality Score

Eight domains add to 100 points. A commercial relationship, advertising spend or inclusion in a sponsored publication provides zero scoring points. Among clinics meeting the Evidence Confidence threshold, rank order follows the Clinic Quality Score.

Evidence Confidence Score

35Evidence coverage
30Source authority
15Cross-source corroboration
10Recency
10Data consistency

A high Quality Score with low Evidence Confidence is not eligible for the main ranking. Missing evidence is not treated as positive evidence.

Complaint model

Patient reviews are treated as patient-reported evidence, not automatic proof of malpractice. We assess severity, recurrence, recency, corroboration and clinic response.

  • C1 Minor: logistics, waits, hotel coordination
  • C2 Moderate: pricing, communication or expectation disputes
  • C3 Serious: recurring clinical or aftercare issues
  • C4 Critical: serious regulatory or well-corroborated safety indicators

Version control

Changes to the ranking framework are versioned. Numerical scoring weights are not silently changed to alter a clinic’s position, and material updates are recorded in the change log.
